Pre-School

The Pre-School Program classes consist of Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet. Both class levels are for children with little or no dance experience. Directed by Maggie Sapienza, The Pre-School Program is unique to Dance Theatre Seven and is quickly becoming a beloved favorite of children and their parents. Classes are held mornings, afternoons, or weekends to accommodate your child's regular school schedule.

In a joyful, non-judgmental environment, Creative Movement allows children ages 3 & 4 to explore movement, music, and their imagination, improving their kinetic skills, musicality, inner awareness, and focus.

Pre-Ballet, for children ages 5 & 6, still maintains a fun and creative atmosphere while introducing the child to their first true ballet experience. Here, students are exposed to classical ballet steps and the structure of a real ballet class. Maggie patiently explains the importance of each exercise and encourages students to try their best.

Building your child's confidence and love of dance and movement is our highest priority. We are thrilled to be a part of each child's accomplishments and take great pride in in seeing them blossom and grow.

Ballet

The Ballet Program consists of Introduction to Ballet, Ballet Preparatory, and Ballet 1 through 5 classes. All classes are held mornings, afternoons, and weekends to accommodate your child's regular school schedule.

Introduction to Ballet is for 7 to 11 year olds with little or no ballet experience who wish to begin learning ballet. No audition or experience is required.

Ballet Preparatory is for children ages 6 to 8 who have previous ballet experience and wish to begin the Ballet program. Placement in Ballet Preparatory is by audition or teacher recommendation only.

Ballet 1 through 5 classes are for those who have demonstrated their ability to train at a given level. Each level corresponds roughly to the number of class hours of training per week. Admittance to all classes is by teacher recommendation only. Placement is based solely on the staff's assessment of the student's ability - not age.

Students new to Dance Theatre Seven wishing to enter Ballet Preparatory or Ballet 1 through 5 classes must take a placement class prior to registering.

Adult and Teen Open Classes

Under the direction of Maggie Sapienza, Dance Theatre Seven is just beginning to introduce more classes to the recreational dancer. These classes allow older dancers to pick and choose their own classes and schedule. These currently include Ballet, Ballet Bootcamp, Hip Hop, West African, and many more to come.

Please check our Open Class schedule under Policies / Forms.

Dance Theatre Seven strongly believes that dance training benefits every child.

While honoring each child's individuality, the staff sets consistently high standards in the classroom. Through ballet, like all classical arts, a child begins to understand the value of personal responsibility, concentration, and commitment to excellence.

These invaluable skills apply to all facets of the student's life —- this is what we call Training the Complete Dancer™.
